I would just like to comment on the main part of the blog. I am a member of the original cast of "Deer Camp", and, while it does poke fun at a certain group of hunters, I feel before you pass judgement, you need to see the show. I would not, for a minute, compare what we do on stage to that which happens in 99% of the hunting camps in Minnesota. This is a musical comedy, and as such, is intended to make people laugh and feel good. I suggest you get a ticket for the Lowery, or better yet, come and see us in January in St. Cloud. I will have a comp ticket for you and we would love to have you attend.

Boy. I don't know - I'll ride the fence on this one. I mean part of me says we are getting way to sensitive about everything these days and think everything is an attack on us - and on the other hand, I think like you say, it could further foster people's belief that we are shiftless and lazy. I bet if it was put on in small town America, it'd go off with a great hit as hunters that, like you said, can discern between reality and fallacy would enjoy the humor - we laugh at the ridiculousness of it. The artsy theater goers will end up laughing at "stupid hunters."
I'm still on the fence.
