Look, I’m going to make my point here rather blunt in today’s blog post. If you think the Obama/Biden ticket supports gun owners and our Second Amendment rights you need to wake up and smell the roses, my friend. It just ain’t so. But don’t take my word for it. In fact, don’t even take the National Rifle Association’s word for it. But do read John Lott’s recent Op-Ed piece that appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer yesterday. Below is only an excerpt from the newspaper.
“…I knew Obama during the mid-1990s, when we were both at the University of Chicago Law School. Indeed, when I introduced myself to him, he said, “Oh, you are the gun guy.
“I responded, “Yes, I guess so.” His response, as I recall it, was, “I don’t believe that people should be able to own guns.”
When I said it might be fun sometime to talk about the question and his support of Chicago’s lawsuit against gunmakers, he simply grimaced and turned away, ending the conversation.
Obama obviously thinks the gun issue is important. He and his surrogates constantly repeat the claim that he has always supported an individual right to own guns. But the media should stop uncritically reporting the claim without checking his past statements.”
Could it be the Electorate is simply hearing what Obama wants them to hear and not necessarily the truth? I think what we have here is a situation where he’s hoping his words speak louder than his past actions, rather than vice versa.
Gun owners…it’s time to wake up before you enter the polling booth. Time is running out.
