RUSHFORD — After winning the first game of the Spring Grove tournament Monday night, Rushford-Peterson boys basketball players climbed into their bus and headed home to get some rest.
Little did they know, the most exciting part of their night was waiting for them on Minnesota Highway 43…
…Unfortunately, a few miles down the road (somewhere between Mabel and Choice), a large 10-point buck ran into the front end of the bus… The massive trophy-sized buck weighed about 280 pounds and had a 22-inch antler spread.
Local high school basketball team gets a tourney win and then while on road trip back home gets a trophy buck. I wonder which event was more meaningful (memorable) to those players. I think I know.

[...] Do you recall last year when I reported on the Rushford-Peterson (MN) high school basketball team that was returning from a tournament and forced the bus driver to pull over so they could retrieve a dead trophy-sized deer lying along side the road? CLICK HERE. [...]
