Check Here Before Filling The Tank With Gas
Nobody likes what’s been happening with gas prices as of late, and this is particularly true of sportsmen who have a tendency to operate lots of toys with cylinders. As a rule, our trucks are not notorious for good gas mileage and…well, you know how it goes. Now each time when you pull up to the pump you can see on average at least $50 disappearing instantly from your wallet. A friend who drives a Chevy Suburban told me he was looking to trade it soon because each fill was now costing him over $100. OUCH!!!
Well, there doesn’t appear to be much relief in sight, but in the meantime consumers should check out a nifty web site that might be able to help you save a few bucks on each fill. A good friend passed this along to me and I was amazed at just how accurate the prices seemed to be. Albeit, in this day of age the prices can potentially change more than once each day…so nothing is a sure shot.
It works like this. Gas is one of those items that is often put on a credit card. Apparently there’s a business called OPIS that monitors over 85,000 gas outlets nationwide by reviewing charge card transactions and recording the price paid per gallon. The station prices are generally only updated once each day…so there could be some lag time, but short of driving around to several stations and looking at their posted fuel rates what else have we got? Check it out:

**Note: The OPIS website appears to be for subscribers only to obtain pricing information. Click the link immediately above for the FREE price check.
By placing your zip code in the form it will show you the gas price range and what stations to consider from that zip code. You will get a map courtesy of MSN that shows the distribution of those stations.

It will also provide you with a nifty listing showing the prices and the dates those prices where last updated:

Check it out…because short of having someone pay for your next fill it’s the best thing we have going for us to save a little money in our pockets so we can afford that next new gun or fishing rod.
