Flashback To Past Fishing Openers
Did you really think I would find time to blog today during the big Minnesota Walleye Fishing Opener? Well…guess again! Instead, here’s a few fishing images I found digging deep into the Sportsman’s Blog archives. Notice any familiar (albeit younger) faces? These pictures were taken about 14 years ago on the "opener" fishing that year on a lake just south of Bemidji, MN.

Need any hints? The guy on the left now has a television program on ESPN. The guy on the right is widely known as "Mr. Walleye."
Alright, "Mr. Walleye" is none other than Gary Roach, pro walleye angler. Here I am conducting a radio interview with the legendary Roach. (Gosh, did I really have that much hair back then??)

Here Gary is frying up some of the day’s catch using his special fish batter cooked in peanut oil. The person acting crazy in the background is Ron Schara with his brother Robert standing near Roach.
