Fish Camp ’06: Our Success Was Batter-Fried Then Eaten

The 2006 spring “Minnesota Fishing Opener” is now one for the history books.   After a year where there was some serious introspection on whether to keep this particular fish camp tradition alive or to let it die a peaceful death…I think all who attended were quite glad they made the trek north yet another year.   In fact, most folks agreed this was perhaps the best year ever for our camp’s walleye fishing success.   Even though the weather was less than cooperative (cold and rainy), the small group of friends who gathered made this year’s fish camp environment a truly warm and exciting place to be.

This special weekend is mostly about meeting up with good friends who share a common love for fishing cemented by a long-standing tradition of gathering for the “Minnesota Fishing Opener.”   Over the years we’ve lost some camp participants through attrition, but their absence has been eagerly replaced by the several new faces willing to capitalize on the new opportunity.   And that’s how it ought to be…none of us, and I do mean none of us should become complacent to the importance of gathering with special friends to enjoy a quality outdoor experience.

Perhaps the best way to do a wrap-up on the “Minnesota Fishing Opener” is to do a little photo-blogging showing a few scenes from the past weekend.
