Typo Turns Hunters Into Sex Line Listeners

2008FedStampIf you’re like me you annually purchase your Federal Migratory Waterfowl Stamp at the local post office before hunting season begins.   But this year buyers BEWARE…printed on the card accompanying the stamp is a phone number you can call to purchase additional stamps, should you desire them.   Great marketing idea…except for one important mistake.  The Feds printed the wrong number on that card.

Instead of printing 1-800-STAMP24 (which happens to be the correct number) someone accidentally printed 1-800-872-6724 (which apparently translates to 1-800-TRAMP24).   The first number would have gotten you additional waterfowl stamps, but the actual number printed gets you directly to a steamy phone-sex service that will cost you $1.99/minute.

With about 3.5 million stamps already printed featuring the art of Minnesota wildlife artist, Joseph Hautman, there are currently no plans for a new press run.   So, do the safe thing…and purchase your stamps at a U.S. Post Office.
